The New "Golden" Holy Grail

I had a slight bias against Elizavecca products due to the pig that is their mascot. For no particular reason other than I felt less lux with skincare products that were represented by a barnyard animal. I was, however, intrigued by a gold face mask that changed color. I mean, talk about skincaretainmet! Plus I like all manner of things metallic and shiny, so why not my face?

The Review
I was very surprised by this product. I did not think that lavender and rosemary would go well together. That may be why I had an issue identifying the particular scent. The CosDNA analysis had very few irritants except fragrance and surfactants.

I shook the tube and the liquid mask sort of slapped around inside the tube, so I could tell this was a thinner product. Be careful squeezing the tube! It was definitely a loose gel, gold in color and pearled.

The scent was quite odd, I couldn't quite put my finger on it. It wasn't a bad scent, but it was a stronger scent. Slightly floral but clean. I was actually surprised the strength of the scent did not trigger any asthma issues for me. It was pleasant, but odd.

The mask was thin and spread evenly. I was not sure how thick I should have spread it, but I decided to leave it on the thin side. I was glad I did.

The mask itself started to turn white as it dried and seemed thicker. Not only did the mask dried white, but it dried smooth and cracked and flaked when I smiled and scrunched my face.

As soon as I washed the mask off, I could tell a difference. My skin was smoother in texture and was glowing. My pores were visibly smaller and my skin texture was even and soft to the touch. My skin in no way felt tight or stingy like I sometimes get when I wash off clay masks. It did, however, suck up moisture like no one's business when I added the rest of my routine. I needed extra pumps of everything. That may be in part to having a busy week and having been too tired to do more than the basics. We are also getting into our cold season (already 30 degree mornings), so I know I was pretty dehydrated.

One pretty interesting thing I encountered, was that when the mask was re-hydrated as I washed it off, both on my face and the washcloth, it went back to the golden color.

This is definitely my new favorite mask! I have already added another tube to my shopping cart as a back up. I am really amused by the color as well as the cute and detailed artwork on the box.
